Metaphorically our proposal appears like Cedric Price’s Fun Palace: Fun Palace is a space that provides personalized entertainment experiences with an improvisational architecture of continuous reassembly. Morphologically, it is a scaffolding that is never completed, because the program and the goal are constantly changing to adapt to the new uses and demands of its visitors.
Rotating escalators and moving walkways, self-regulate the form and function of the building to respond to each possible scenario, thus shaping a building that on the one hand ‘learns’ patterns of behavior while on the other hand ‘plans’ future activities. The building thus becomes not only a living organism but also a sensitive organism which can adapt and adjust to new functionalities. Our scaffolding is a flexible infrastructure mechanism that puts itself in the background in order to make place to our universal need for progress and interaction.
The architecture of the building sits naked, empty from any form of monumentalism, promoting interaction between its users and nature, thus fulfilling its purpose of a permanent incubator. The interior verandas, the exterior balconies and the atriums, put common use spaces next to every unit of the building. Users can interact on all occasion learning from each other. In the new forms of work that we are responding to, what dominates is creative knowledge and collective projects. In order for the above to be possible, spatial arrangements are made in order to move, adapt and operate in response to the demands of the new conditions.
