On the occasion of the architectural competition for the redevelopment of the coastal and terrestrial zone in the port of Neapolis, the present proposal is developed in relation to the upgrading of the facades of the coastal buildings, the organization and design of traffic and staging areas, as well as poles of interest in connection with the operation of the port.
It is worth highlighting that the study area borders the Agios Nikolaos Geopark, a petrified forest, formed millions of years ago by geological disturbances, earthquakes and volcanic activity. The proposal is therefore inspired by this territorial specificity, attempting a transcription of the park in both facades and in floorings. An almost monochromatic series of different variations of mineral stones clad the surfaces, in an attempt to unify the facades, building plots and public spaces.
